The 2011 Olympic Handball 50p Coin is part of the official London 2012 Olympic 50p series released by The Royal Mint. This 29-coin collection celebrates each of the sports featured in the 2012 Olympic Games and remains one of the UK’s most popular coin series.
The coin’s reverse was designed by Natasha Ratcliffe, capturing the speed and intensity of Olympic handball — a fast-paced team sport combining elements of basketball and soccer. The image features a player in mid-throw with a dynamic sense of motion. The London 2012 logo appears above, with the denomination “50 PENCE” below.
