ONE POUND COIN ROYAL MINT Staff ISSUE "LAST OF THE OLD FIRST OF THE NEW" FRAMED
This Royal Mint Staff Issue One Pound Coin is a special commemorative release titled “Last of the Old, First of the New.” It marks the transition from the round £1 coin to the 12-sided version introduced in 2017. Exclusively issued to Royal Mint staff members, this presentation includes both coins, symbolising the end of one era and the beginning of another. The set comes professionally framed, making it an exceptional display piece and a highly sought-after item for collectors of Royal Mint memorabilia and modern British coinage history.
These are limited to only 900 pieces and were only issued to Royal Mint Staff (never sold to the general public) who were directly involved in the design of the new pound coin. It is hand signed by Adam Lawrence, Deputy Master, Chief Executive of the Royal Mint at the time.
There is some age related damage, where the outer black frame meets the inner shadow box section (shown in photos) the white silicone has separated however, this is a simple fix and requires the silicone to be replaced.
